When you are out in the National parks where they allow you to go your own way a GPS is a very helpful tool. In the parks of Botswana that covers great areas with thousands of tracks or down in the vegetated dunes of Kosi Bay in Zululand it is easy to get lost. I have always only used my GPS to be able to back track and to make way points at campsites. But now with some help from a South African friend i have found the site Tracks 4 Africa (T4A).
They provide tracks not GPS maps. They collect GPS readings from a lot of volunteers all over Africa and put it together for others to use. The price is very reasonable. If you want to check out what you get look at Google Earth were you can make all the tracks appear. Check it out now.
